I had a wonderful holiday recently with a friend and our daughters. We swam, cycled, read books, went to restaurants, explored towns etc. Some of the restaurants we visited had DJs playing music. Shazam was the app I used every time I heard a song that I really liked. So, back home now, I’m listening to those songs. Some of my favourite discoveries are Blinding Lights by the artist Ouvindo, Shoulda by Jamie Woon and Wicked Game by Kid Ava. Hope you like them too.
Olive Oil
I’d heard about a young British couple, Lucie and Jerry, who bought a farm in Italy and were restoring the farm while also making extra virgin olive oil. Their carbon farming journey sounds fascinating (and hard work), so I thought I’d do my bit and ordered their Monticole Single Estate extra virgin olive oil. Shayna's kitchen
One of my favourite recipes to make recently is Shayna Terese Taylor’s Smashed Pea Toast with cream cheese and eggs. She is an American chef who moved from the US to Italy where she bought a farm in Umbria. On her food Instagram account @shaynas.kitchen I came across her recipe for the smashed pea toast (she posted it around 4-5 weeks ago). It is so delicious; I highly recommend it. I swap some ingredients for others (such as Shayna makes it with dairy free cream cheese, while I use Paysan cream cheese). I also add more garlic as I love garlic. I now permanently have garden peas in the freezer. Give it a try, I don’t think you will regret it.
